Why Venture Capital?

Chess piecesWe believe that venture capital is the single most effective business model yet devised to create value. As investors with a point of view, we believe that venture capital is also the lever of change, not simply the means to a financial return.

We rely on three key principles to guide our investment decisions:

  • 3 Principles Marketization of Healthcare Disruptive Business Models Growing Great Companies We believe in the power of markets as the best way to provide quality and value to consumers. The phrase we use is the marketization of healthcare.
  • We believe radical change in healthcare is both inevitable and desirable. We are actively seeking disruptive business models that offer consumers more health for their money.
  • We believe in focusing on the area of the healthcare industry we know well: the delivery of healthcare services. We grow great companies through disciplined investment decisions and active involvement in our portfolio companies.

The venture capital tools we use to identify and invest in promising business ideas and fledgling companies are familiar, but we use these tools differently than traditional venture capitalists. Our initial questions are less focused on deals and immediate financial results than on the potential impact of our investment of time, expertise and funds.

How big is your change?
